My husband had Johns ancestors in Union Co. I'll paste the family record below. This is a very confusing family and as I read over what I've copied below, I realize I need to review the details before I get it straight in my mind again, too. If your John Johns was born in 1833, maybe he was a brother to our Joseph Johns, born aabt. 1820 in TN. Perhaps their father was married twice, first to Susie Goodnight, then to Mary Jane? The dates don't work out exactly, but by both families being from TN and being here in Union Co., there must be a connection. McClure (where Felix Johns lived) is just across the Union/Alexander co. line. There is a Thomas H. Johns listed in Darrel Dexter's Union County, Illinois Soldiers, p. 105: Johns, Thomas H. pvt. Co. F. 109th, Union County, en. 15 Aug. 1862, age 26, born in McMinn. Co. Tenn., farmer m.i. 11 Sep 1862, deserted 25 Mar 1863, at Memphis, Tenn. I think I have seen a marriage record for a Johns in Union Co., but I seem to have misplaced my book right now. I hope we can connect someway. I would love to know more about this elusive family that moved so often. Linda Descendants of Joseph Johns Generation No. 1 1.
