The Southern Illinoisan, Carbondale, Illinois, Sunday, December 22, 1963 R. B. RIDGEWAY, 90, EX-COBDEN MAN, DIES Richard B. RIDGEWAY, 90, formerly of Cobden, died Friday in Memorial Hospital, Mattoon, after a brief illness. He was a retired general merchant of Cobden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cobden, the Modern Woodmen Club and the Odd Fellows Club. Mr. RIDGEWAY was born May 6, 1873, at Makanda, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard RIDGEWAY. He was married to Leila Emma GURLEY Aug. 19, 1900. He leaves his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel SMITH of Lerna; two sons, Lester of COBDEN and Donald of Jonesboro; a sister, Mrs. Ellen HEERN of Makanda; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Broadway Funeral Home, Cobden. Rev. Earl BLACK, pastor of the Jonesboro Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Makanda. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
