He lived in the Mt. Pleasant area in Union County, IL in 1858 (based on a letter from him dated November 1858 to his daughter) and had apparently died by the 1860 census, as his wife (Mahala Jane Smith Dodge) is listed as widowed and marries later that year. I can't find any information on his death and his obituary is not listed in the Jonesboro Gazette. If you find anything in your cemetery book, I would greatly appreciate the help.
