    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: FranColboth Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.counties.union/1388.7.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Wish I could help you. Unfortunately there is no Campground Cemetery in Volume I. Darrel Dexter, the author, published several Volumes (4-5 at least) for other cemeteries in Union County. Perhaps someone has some of the other books. There is, in fact, no Emerson buried at any of the 25 cemeteries in this volume. There is a website (see below) call Illinois Trails which has listed over 50 Union County cemeteries. Campground is not included. Not all cemeteries are populated, and those that are are incomplete. But, there are a lot of interesting things to browse through and you may come across something that might help. The website is fairly new and being updated. 3. I also have an ancestor buried in Campground church and have not been successful in finding its burial records. It has a very interesting history as a site of first camping, then burial, of Cherokee Indians who were traveling through Union county during the winter of 1838-39 on the Trail of Tears. If you google campground church IL or Trail of Tears IL you will get a lot of hits about the site. Some of the graves are lost forever, unfortunately, because at one point a road was build through the middle of the site. If anyone on this board has any further information about the individual graves at that cemetery, I would be most appreciative of it.
