    3. Hello, I am away from home for the next week without access to my records--but thank you so much for replying to my email! Family lore has it that his mother was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian named Martha who married Jesse Burris sometime around 1820, probably in Tennessee, but possibly in North Carolina. I have looked many, many places trying to discover her maiden name, but not luck. She died about 1837, not too long after her last child, Jasper Daniel Burris was born in TN. Jesse Burris remarried in Wayne county KY to Matida UNK McClain. I can't remember the date, but I think it was about 1843. Jesse presumably died in Wayne county sometime between 1860 and 1870. Jasper Daniel Burris's widow, Francis Elizabeth Denney Burris (Lizzie) is not buried in Camp Ground cemetery. I can't remember without my files where she was buried, but I know she died in Alexander county IL in about 1927. I have not found any other relatives buried in Campground cemetery. Jasper Daniel was at one point in his life was a preacher, but mostly made his living as a farmer in first KY, then IL. I have long suspected that he is in Campground either because of a connection through his mother or through the church, but I believe the church wasn't built at the time of his death in 1893. Is that right? Jasper Daniel's family was on the move during the 1830s and 1840s. Depending on who's tree you follow they may have been in some or all of the following states: TN, IN, IL and KY. My grandmother (Jasper's granddaughter) had no doubt that she was 1/8 Cherokee on her father's side. By process of elimination, I have traced all her other grandparents and confirmed that only Martha could be the Cherokee. Any information about those tombstones you could share with me would be so much appreciated! Thank you very much. Diane
