Then Southern Illinoisan, Carbondale, Illinois, Friday, 22 Jan 1960 PITTSBURG AREA MAN DIES AT MARION James BLADES, 70, Rt. 1, Pittsburg, died at 11 a.m. Thursday in Marion Memorial Hospital after a three-month illness. He was a retired coal miner and last worked at the Crab Orchard Mine. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Local 8845. Mr. Blades, son of Thomas and Nancy JOHNSON BLADES, was born Oct 22, 1899, in Union County. He leaves wife Bessie; daughter Mrs. Thelma GERMAN, West Frankfort; Mrs. Janice MURPHY of Pittsburg; Mrs. Louis NORDWIG of Bremerton, Wash., five grandchildren; brother Willis BLADES of Chicago; and sister Mrs. Ada BARKER of West Frankfort. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home, Johnston City, with burial in Dillingham Shed Cemetery, East of Corinth. The Rev. E. B. PURDY, West Frankfort First Methodist Church pastor, will officiate. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
