It's possible that this could be the William CARTER shown on the 1880 Union County, IL, census as 35 years of age and a medical doctor. However, if it is, the 1880 census info. for him and his parents does not agree with the 1850 census. Of course, that is not too terribly unusual. The 1880 Union County, IL, census indicates that he was born in IL and that both of his parents were born in IL. The 1850 data that you posted indicates that William, age 6, was born in MO with his father b. in VA and his mother b. in KY. The only thing that agrees is his approximate ages in 1850 and 1880. Unfortunately, both William and CARTER are quite common names. I'm sorry that I don't have any information on your Albert CARTER. The 1880 census that is online for IL shows more than one Albert CARTER. I have found at least four. John CARTER, age 33, b. IL, in Bradley, Jackson County, IL, had a son Albert CARTER, age 12, b. IL, enumerated in his household. Robert CARTER, age 40, b. IN, in Smallwood, Jasper County, IL, had a son Albert CARTER, age 11, b. IL. William CARTER, age 48, b. PA, in Carroll, Vermillion County, IL, had a son Albert V. CARTER, age 19, b. IL. Eliza J. CARTER, a widow, age 49, b. IN, in Dry Point, Shelby County, IL, had a son Albert B. CARTER, age 23, b. IN. I don't know if the age of any of these Albert CARTER's fit the age of the Albert CARTER for whom you're looking or not. Ginny
