    3. Obituary Olney, Illinois Charles L. Hill, 84 Charles L. Hill, 84, of Olney, died at 8:17 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2004 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Reverend Scott Carlson officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney. Mr. Hill was born on January 18, 1920, in Coffeyville, Kansas, the son of Oliver P. and Aletha* (Baker) married Kathleen Smith. She survives. He was retired from the engineering department of Roadmaster. He taught flying at Ulrich Airport and was a pilot for Perry Fulk Oil. He was a partner in Hull Motors in Olney and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Olney. He was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He entered military service in June 1942. Following pilot trainging, he served overseas in the European Theater, piloting the C-47. He served with the 313th Troop Carrier Group and served in the Rhineland Crossing and the Central Europe Campaigns. Mr. Hill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen (SMITH) Hill, of Olney; a granddaughter, Jackie Barber and her husband, Pete, of Rotterdam, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Cody and Ethan; and three sisters, Charlene Cole and her husband, Marion, of Shreveport, LA., Frances Bloompot and her husband, Art of Peoria, Illinois and Darlene Hill of Peoria, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John, two sisters and four brothers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------ *Aletha is a misspelling. It should have been Lela Alta. As a genealogiest I could not let that get by. Charles was my cousin and after 10 years of research I finally tracked him down last year and met for the very first time and now for the only time. I am thankful for the time that we did have together. He now holds all the answers to my questions. An as to putting it on these boards, our families came from around these three counties.
