There was no census taken in 1875. Illinois State censuses were taken in 1820, 1825, 1830, 1835, 1840, 1845, 1855, and 1865. Unfortunately only the 1820, 1855, and 1865 ones have survived reasonably intact. Most of the county returns for 1825, 1830, 1835, and 1845 are missing and nearly half of the 1840 state census has been lost. Karima --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. The Union County state census is available for 1820, 1840, 1855 and 1865. I believe these are all available on microfilm on interlibrary loan. Years ago I obtained the 1840 that way. This web site http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/research_series/rseries5.html . describes the Illinois State Archives' "Genealogical Research Series Pamphlet No. 5", covering IL state census records. Shows which counties are available by year. "STATE CENSUSES LIST ONLY THE NAME OF THE HEAD OF EACH HOUSEHOLD. Other inhabitants simply were tallied."
