Carolyn, You mentioned that you may be taking a trip to Union. If your travels take you close to Mt. Vernon stop at their library. Mt. Vernon is at the junction of I-64 and I-57. Can't remember the name of the library but I'm sure others on this site can give you more information. I was absolutely amazed at the amount of information they had. And I have been through the libraries in Anna/Jonesboro but was still very impressed with what I saw there. The really great thing was they have a large collection from a lot of counties. So if your looking for someone that lived close to a county line it was easy to research the other counties, which I did not find at the other libraries. I traveled over 5,300 miles on that trip in 2 1/2 weeks so it was somewhat of a blur. Would someone please confirm that the library was indeed at Mt. Vernon. Talk at me later, Bob C. Tucson, AZ.
Yes, it's called Brehm Library and is wonderful. There's also a genealogy library for our area at John A. Logan College at Carterville.
