    1. Re: [ILUNION] Miss Illinois
    2. I agree with you Tim. There was a mention about her in the St Louis Post-Dispatch this morning that was not very nice. I wrote a letter to the editor (my first ever!) defending her as they clearly had not done any research. I do not know Ashley personally, but know many people who do. People all agree that she is a beautiful young woman both inside and out. I remember her mother from high school, she was a couple of years ahead of me. GO ASHLEY!!! 3. Good Afternoon List: I am new to this List and do hope that someone can help me. I have just been told that my great-uncle, WILLIAM EDWARD DECROW, died at Anna State Hospital but no one seems to know when. I do know that he was listed as an inmate at the Hospital on the 1930 census. Can someone please tell me if a census has ever been taken of the cemetery at the Hospital and if it is transcribed somewhere? Thanks. Janis Mundy Nevada

Author: TedStout50 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.counties.union/3751.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Maxine. The Goodnight and Johns families moved to Illinois about 1830 where they lived in Bond County followed by Williamson County and Franklin County. Joseph is in the 1830 Census for Bond County near Felix Johns. Some children were married in Union County but I have no indication they actually lived there. A descendant of Felix believes he was a brother of Joseph. Joseph did name a son Felix. I have located Felix in a Giles Co. record in 1825 as well as an older Joseph Johns and a Harvey Johns in 18 teens court records. In 1937 and 1938, Nancy Goodnight and Margaret Ann Johns were married in Union County. Apparently, Nancy Goodnight was under age and the clerk of Union county was in trouble for issuing a marriage license. In response, John Goodnight signed an affidavit saying Nancy had his permission to marry. Joseph Johns was a witness to the document which was signed in Franklin County. The 1840 census of Williamson County has both Joseph Johns and John Goodnight. Other than the marriages, and a statement by Mr. Robbins, I know of no other indication the family was in Union County. It may have been a close place to elope to. It seems likely to me that John Johns would have been born in Bond County, because one of his aunts was married in Montgomery County the year before his birth. The 1835 Illinois State Census is no help since it didn't include the Johns or Goodnight families. I suspect that Felix Johns was one of Joseph's brothers, as well as the older William Johns living in W! illiamson County Illinois and later Christian County, MO. 3. My husband had Johns ancestors in Union Co. I'll paste the family record below. This is a very confusing family and as I read over what I've copied below, I realize I need to review the details before I get it straight in my mind again, too. If your John Johns was born in 1833, maybe he was a brother to our Joseph Johns, born aabt. 1820 in TN. Perhaps their father was married twice, first to Susie Goodnight, then to Mary Jane? The dates don't work out exactly, but by both families being from TN and being here in Union Co., there must be a connection. McClure (where Felix Johns lived) is just across the Union/Alexander co. line. There is a Thomas H. Johns listed in Darrel Dexter's Union County, Illinois Soldiers, p. 105: Johns, Thomas H. pvt. Co. F. 109th, Union County, en. 15 Aug. 1862, age 26, born in McMinn. Co. Tenn., farmer m.i. 11 Sep 1862, deserted 25 Mar 1863, at Memphis, Tenn. Margaret Clemens was my Great Grandmother married to John W. Broadway. I have some fond memories of visiting their family home that my gg aunts lived in during their later years...Matilda Clemens Stout (married to Harry Stout)and Francis Nelson (married to Bernard Clemens). The house was north of the school on the west side of N. Centennial St. (If I'm reading my map right). I suppose I'm looking for some more personal info on my Cobden family than just the vital statistics (but I'll take those too!) Any info/stories/urban legends = ) on the Broadway's, Bobo's, Clemen's, Glesar's, Baggot's, Nelson's, and Stout's would be greatly appreciated. Happy New Year! I assume this is an incorrect spelling, but it's a long stretch to Waller's ferry that operated from 1806-1817 from what is now Trail of Tears State Park (MO). Anyone have ideas as to whom this might refer or where it was located? Mary McDaniel, wife of Joseph Waller, Jr (d 1823) married William Lamer in 1825. JTL **************Start the year off right.
