I am not sure about anything past Union Co IL as I research the lines connected to me that married Stokes. Which was many of my gg and ggg aunts and uncles.I study what I am sent and try to validate it from sources. I live in Anna,IL so checking records in Union Co IL is not hard for me. My line thus far is back to John STOKES and Margaret YOUNG, however I see several discripancies to my particular line connecting him to the John STOKES who was the Rev War Vet (1756-1790). I think my John STOKES is NOT this same man.... I believe he is the father of Polly Jones 1775 Thomas William Young 1771/9 died White Co, IL David 1774 (or May 28, 1780) died Christian Co, IL John 1778 our line who died Union Co, IL Matthew 5-12-1784 died Todd Co, KY the others I'm not sure where they went or passed away. Is the John STOKES and Margaret YOUNG the ancestors of the Stokes line of IL ? Does this look familiar ? Linda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Does anyone have any documentation that John Jr Stokes wife's maiden name was GWIN ? Reason I ask is...I think it's possible that Mary GWIN is the 2nd wife of John Sr STOKES f/o John Jr. and that John Jr STOKES wife could have been Mary ANDERSON (m 12-23-1824 Union Co, IL). Since I'm posting, does anyone happen to know John Sr STOKES (1778-1854) 1st wife's name ? He'd be the one who married (1839) to Cynthia PENDER. I know I have some older TOLER lines. Stephen TOLER s/o Thomas Sr and Winifred Massey...their children ended up in Union Co, IL. Charlotte, Merriba, Thomas Jesse, Silas C., Elizabeth, Stephen A, William A, Powell, John M. & Lewis. Silas for example b: 1792 Wayne Co, NC d: 10 Jul 1866 Union Co, IL m: Anna MUSGRAVE they had 8 children also of Union Co, IL. My STOKES goes back quite far as well. Basically the reason I was working these lines are for intermarriages to my direct line which is that of MCINTIRE and YOUNGBLOOD. I was trying to work on my Youngbloods this month (or so, lol) and found a Thomas YOUNGBLOOD b: Bet. 1815 - 1820 in Franklin Co, IL who married (31 Aug 1837 Union Co, IL) Nancy BEGGS b: 1820 Union Co, IL. So i was working on a Youngblood-Beggs line when I looked at your posting. Because they had been in Union Co, IL kind of early, I only found them as far as 1840, and was trying to see if they had any descendants in the area. No luck so far. These are basically my IL lines: McIntire-Gaunt-Youngblood-Stokes-Beggs-Toler-Tolbert-Worthy-Nelson-Elam...now these aren't ALL of Union Co, but basically Southern IL (Saline, Johnson, Williamson, Pulaski..ect) If you'd like to exchange info, feel free to email me directly if you like. My addy is LBALL3466@aol.com I'm on line basically everyday doing genealogy. Linda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
