    3. No, I live in southern Michigan. My Grandmother was Effie Alexander, born in Jonesboro, Union County in 1886. (William Merrit) McDaniel. Family lore goes that he worked on a "boat" on the Ohio River and died 8/13/1905 (age 27) as a result. I know the date is correct for his death. His place of death is listed as Alto Pass, Union Co., Illinois. I would love to know if the family lore is based in truth. Does anyone have suggestions for how I can find out (I've already ordered the death certificate)? Are there newspaper archives? 3. Angela is correct I am moving Union Co IL to a new host, I am going to try to make it more researcher friendly, which means I would like your material that you would like to submit to go to the USGENWEB archives which the ILGenWeb Project is part of. In the past you would have to submit to me a photo , will, or whatever now you can use the form from the USGENWEB ARCHIVES LINK. The link below is the different databases you can submit your material to. Make sure you designate for the Correct County in IL. http://www.poppet.org/ilfiles/ You are the submitter and it is your material, why is this better than the old way, 1. Your material is submitted much faster, 2. it will be archived where other researchers today and hopefully years from now will still have acess to it FREE. Below is the links to the USGGENWEB ARCHIVES County page and Project http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~usgenweb/il/ilfiles.htm This is the Union Co IL USGENWEB ARCHIVES Page which is on the Research page for Union Co IL. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~usgenweb/il/union/union.htm If you have any questions email me at timcasey5@verizon.net for now. Do not email the Union Co IL mail list, email me privately. You do not need a password or username to go to the site, I may have done that on 4/3/08 by mistake, I think I have fixed that if you are asked for a user name or password email me privately so I know there is a problem. This is the index page for Union Co IL then click on the map to go into the site. http://ilhistoryweb.com/ilgenweb/il_union/index.htm Be patient change is coming. (grin) Tim Casey Union Co IL
