Good Afternoon Patricia, Just wondering if you live in the Union County, Illinois area? I would love to find someone who could do 2 obituary lookups (one in 1943 and the other in 1964) for me and I am willing to pay for their time. I think that one of their obituaries would break down a major brick wall for my genealogy. Both of my relatives died in Anna State Hospital and were buried in Thistlewood Cemetery - Mounds, Pulaski County, Illinois. Thanks for your reply. Louise, This is the information I have about this family - Robert Alexander of Missouri married Elizabeth Essig of Indiana on July 20, 1853 in Cape Girardeau, MO. The 1870 Union County Census shows - Robert Alexander - 38 Elizabeth Alexander - 36 William - 17 Elam C - 15 Martha - 12 Robert - 10 I did find a death notice for Elizabeth, Union County, Jan 26, 1895. I believe that Roberts parents may have been Cyrus and Margaret of Cabarrus, NC but have not been able to verify. Thank you so much for any info you may have. You have been a great help to many people with your knowledge and resources. Mary Louise Erekson <lgerekson@bresnan.net> wrote: Mary, I know I found a Robert Alexander.....somewhere.... Terry, I would say we are about 4 generations off. My Jacob King Jr. BN: 1867 married Flora Hileman BN: 1875 and married in 1902. Two daughters Eleanor BN: 1904 and Sarah F. BN: 1912. Story goes he was from New York and moved on to Texas. My Jacob was an only child. Good luck in your search. Talk at me later, Bob C. Bob, I see you have King in your line. I have a Sarah S. King b. 1823 who married William Stearman 1843, William Noble 1846, and David Lynch 1869. I was wondering if you might have any other information on her? I do not know where she died or when nor where she is buried. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Crawford" <zdzowg@comcast.net> To: <ILUNION@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 17, 2008 8:31 PM Subject: [ILUNION] Alexander's > My family lived in the Mill Creek/Elco area of Union Co. and going > through some old photos I came across one labeled "Mr. Alexander". My family lived in the Mill Creek/Elco area of Union Co. and going through some old photos I came across one labeled "Mr. Alexander". I guessing the time line is in the very early 1900's. If anyone is interested I can e-mail the photo to them direct since we can't do attachments through rootsweb. We have no ties to the Alexander's that I know of so they must have been friends. Mary, I'm sorry I haven't written sooner, been busy... Now, there is an article in the johnson Co., IL history about Wilson Alexander....he seems to be the ancestor of the Alexanders in Tunnel Hill. It appears there was a John Alexander, a native of N.C., he lived and died there....a son, Gideon Alexander was born 1771 in N.C., he married [John] married Patsy Sams, a native of N,C. Gideon was their son, father of Wilson, he married in Wilson Co, TN to Elizabeth Borom in 1806..... You mention your lines goes back to Robert Alexander....There is a Robert Alexander, age 38, born MO living in Union Co, IL Does this give you any ideas? David, Bob said you answered him..that you recieved the index...I might just make a suggestion...for your genealogy research.....you wrote and told me you went to Union Co., IL, saw the tombstones of ancestors..... but you didn't mention the names... Since I have several ancestors that were in Union Co., early, and some were in the Civil War, I might have something else that would aid you with your research.
