    3. Carl, From the History of Union County by George C. Parks: There is an article about a benefit for the Benton Hall building at Union Academy. As a fund raiser, they put on a play. They talk about the cast of characters being well-known people of the community who left their mark as good citizens. The policeman was played by a Dick Slack. They note that in the program, many local merchants advertised. One of them was my great great grandfather's grocery store, Lufkin's Model Grocery. There are also many other grocery stores and businesses listed. If you send me your address privately (to my email directly), I will photocopy and send this to you. Or, if you have a library in your area, they may have a copy of this book. The information about Dick Slack starts on pg 532 of volume 2. I have several other Anna resources and will check those over the next few days as well. I have a lot of actual documents from Anna and perhaps one lists your Dick Slack. 1. James Stewart Miller
    2. Fran zickefoose
    3. Dear Union County researchers: After a long time researching it is almost a certainty with me that "James Stewart Miller" who died in 1845 in Union County, Il was my great-grandfather. Here is what I have so far: James Stewart MIller (born in Virginia) died in December, 1845 . He was a schoolteacher and a Justice of the Peace. Nancy D. (Davis) Miller born in South Carolina in 1803. Died "unknown" in either Union or Alexander County. Margaret Miller (daughter) married Orman Morgan Davidson in 1847 in Union County. After Morgan Davidson's death Margaret married Moses Holshouser - a brother to my great-grandfather, Henry Holshouser. John F. Miller (son) married Mary Lavina Cauble in 1862 in Alexander County, Il Clarinda Miller (daughter) may have married George Tench and may gave married Wiley Yates. But, my feeling is that the "Clarinda Miller" who died at Anna State Hospital in May, 1919 is this Clarinda. Other allied family names are "Osman" and "Pettit". Thank you very much for your consideration of this matter. _________________________________________________________________ On the road to retirement?
