    3. Carolyn, You mentioned that you may be taking a trip to Union. If your travels take you close to Mt. Vernon stop at their library. Mt. Vernon is at the junction of I-64 and I-57. Can't remember the name of the library but I'm sure others on this site can give you more information. I was absolutely amazed at the amount of information they had. And I have been through the libraries in Anna/Jonesboro but was still very impressed with what I saw there. The really great thing was they have a large collection from a lot of counties. So if your looking for someone that lived close to a county line it was easy to research the other counties, which I did not find at the other libraries. I traveled over 5,300 miles on that trip in 2 1/2 weeks so it was somewhat of a blur. Would someone please confirm that the library was indeed at Mt. Vernon. Talk at me later, Bob C. Tucson, AZ.

    3. Yes, we have Stinson Library, (closes for week-end at 3:00 on Sat., I think) Jonesboro Library (not sure of hours) the Cobden Museum (only open on Sat. and Sun. afternoons). Our "P.A.S.T." group is working on a Church and School history museum in the former St. Anne's Church on Main St. in Anna, but will be at least a year getting the building restored. Check out our website at www.pastonline.org. We do have reprints of the 1908 Union County Atlas for $25.00. The Union Co. Historical Society has Xerox copies of the 1954 Anna History Book for about $15.00 and other reprints, too. I'd be glad to look up any request I might find in the 1883 Perrin's Book, "A History of Union, Alexander, and Pulaski Counties". My husband is president of the Kornthal Church board and has a few records concerning early members. We also have some St. John's church records. The best place for genealogy records is the Courthouse in Jonesboro. I'll look up addresses and phone numbers if anyone wants. If you haven't visited Union County in the Fall, it's great. On Oct. 9th is our Colorfest week-end with tours of 3 fabulous historic homes and the former Davie School--which is now a bed and breakfast. Stinson Library also has a great flea market that week-end. Linda Hileman (researching Hileman, Kohler, Meisenheimer, Miller, Cruse, Bernhardt, Deuschl, Ellis, Bauer, Davie, Willard and probably more I can't think of right off the top of my head!) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Phyllis Garratt" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, August 22, 2004 7:31 PM Subject: RE: [ILUNION] Libraries - Public or Genealogy Societies > This is an excellent question that Carolyn has asked. 3. Hello list, Are there any libraries in Union County to do research or any genealogy societies that have books to research? I am contemplating a trip to the Union County courthouse and wondered if there are any other places in the county to do research for the area. Thank you for your help, Carolyn Heimann

    1. Willliams, Dillow, Kimmel, Snell
    2. The above surnames are the ones I'm researching on my husband's paternal side. Perry Williams arrived in Union Co sometime in the 1870's from Hawkins Co, TN. I found him in the 1880 census with a wife named Nancy. His next wife, was Ella Boals in the 1892. He divorce her the next year and married Susan Dillow, daughter of Wiley Dillow. My husband's line is through Susan Dillow and Perry Williams. I'd be interested in anymore new info on Susan Dillow or Perry Williams. Thanks, Melinda

    3. I am searching for information about William Elijah Kelso and his family. They lived in Anna beginning in the early 1940's. Elijah died April 1962 in Anna. His wife's name was Ella (Young) and they had six children. Floyd Perry died as a small child, the other names I have are William Francis, Leonard Leon, Cletus Wayne, Donald Ray and Mary Linda Louise. Elijah is my great-grandfather, Ella is his second wife, his first wife was Laura Idel Adcock with whom he also had six children, Oral Arthur (my grandfather), Harvey, Ethel, Louise, Jody and Travis. Travis died shortly after birth and his mother Laura died about the same time. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mary
