    3. The Union County state census is available for 1820, 1840, 1855 and 1865. I believe these are all available on microfilm on interlibrary loan. Years ago I obtained the 1840 that way. This web site http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/research_series/rseries5.html . describes the Illinois State Archives' "Genealogical Research Series Pamphlet No. 5", covering IL state census records. Shows which counties are available by year. "STATE CENSUSES LIST ONLY THE NAME OF THE HEAD OF EACH HOUSEHOLD. Other inhabitants simply were tallied."

    2. Joyce, I'm not sure what all is available, but at the Allen County Library in Ft. Wayne (they have most census records) they only have 1825,30,35,45,55,and 1865 for the state of Illinois. Linda

    3. There was no census taken in 1875. Illinois State censuses were taken in 1820, 1825, 1830, 1835, 1840, 1845, 1855, and 1865. Unfortunately only the 1820, 1855, and 1865 ones have survived reasonably intact. Most of the county returns for 1825, 1830, 1835, and 1845 are missing and nearly half of the 1840 state census has been lost. Karima --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 1. Please let me hear you.
    2. I have day dreamed many time about who I would like to speak with the most. Now I think it would be my Grandmother Serrepty Ann Barringer Hale. She was born in 1860 and died in 1911. That was 21 years before I was born. She states on her marriage license, that she was the daughter of Willis Barringer and Sarah E. Crowder. Her father Willis was mustered out of the Civil War in 1865. I can't find a trace of Willis or Sarah since that time. I have been told that Serrepty was an orphan. If her mother and father both died between 1865 and 1870 (as they are not in the 1870 census) then she would have been an orphan, but who raised her? I have no clue, as I can't find her in the 1870 census. She and my Grandfather got married in 1879, so she is back in being again. I have thousands of questions to ask her. Please Granny Sep talk to me. Ernest Hale

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Wh.2ADE/1813 Message Board Post: I have a theory I want to run by the researchers of the decendants of Nicholas and of Silas Corzine - In looking many places and cross referencing many things and by the process of deduction - It looks as if all the first Corzine families to go into Illinois between 1830 and 1835, appear to be the son's of Nicholas or the son's of Silas. Now some would say they thought Silas and Nicholas brothers, but I actually believe Silas to be another son of Nicholas. In the 1835 census of Union County Ill - the only men over the age of 30 are Abel, Moses, John, Silas, and Durham. Abel and Moses are confirmed as Nicholas's son's, Unsure of John, and Durham appears to be a cousin - however this is the one and only record I can find on Durham. I have been led to believe that my GGGG-Grandfather George Burton was the son of Nicholas, however I don't believe that one either. Nicholas was born in 1758, George was born in 1819 that would of made Nicholas 61 years old when George was born! . In the 1835 census George would of been 14-15 years old and on the census the men having 14-15 year old males are Abel, John, Silas, and Durham. George Burton can not be the son of Silas becasue on the census Silas has 1 child bet the ages of 11 and 20 - this would be his son Noah Ervin. Abel is a possibility he has 3 males 11-20 and I can not figure who they are. I can not figure out the 1 on John and 2 or Durham. Any input on this or information would be great

    3. Viola: I've seen references to "Camp Anna" and to units being formed there and men enlisting there. I assume it was a training camp as well. Possibly your William Mack was in training there. You may already have his service record. If he left a widow or a dependent parent or child who applied for a pension based on his service, there may be other details about him in their applications. The following is from page 48 of the book "100 Years of Progress, City of Anna, Illinois", Anna Centennial Committee, 1954: "From the best information gathered, Union County gave 3,000 men to the army during the Civil War. The records show that in addition to the full 109th Regiment furnished Capt. Mack's Company, there were a number of men in the 18th Regiment.* The county also furnished a large number of men to the 6th Cavalry. The 60th Infantry Regiment was organized at Anna Feb. 17, 1862, Col. Silas C. Toler of Jonesboro and Adjutant Thomas C. Barnes, Anna. The regiment fought in eleven battles in the March on Atlanta to the sea. The 109th Regiment was recruited from Union County. Col. Alexander J. Nimmo, Lt. Col. Elijah A. Willard, Major Thomas A. Perrine, and Adjutant James Evans and others were mustered in at Anna Sept. 11, 1862. It was armed with inferior guns and later consolidated with the 11th Infantry. About 1800 of the men were killed in action or died in hospitals or prison camps. Barracks for soldiers were built on the present site of the Anna State Hospital and a hospital unit erected. The St. Nicholas Hotel in Anna was also converted into a hospital for the wounded. Civil War veterans sleep in a special memorial plot at the Anna Cemetery." ----- *This sentence is typed exactly as printed in the book. I see no other mention of "Capt. Mack" on nearby pages to indicate what his first name might have been. The Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System at http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/ can be checked for servicemen's names and regimental histories. Also the Illinois Civil War Veterans Database at http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/GenealogyMWeb/civilwar.html Andy Anderson ----- Original Message ----- From: "Viola Seward" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, October 16, 2004 11:48 AM Subject: Re: [ILUNION] Civil War Info At ANNA? > Hello.
