I have found in the 1850 Union County census: James CARTER, 35,b. VA; Nancy, 34,b. KY; Jane, 14, b.TN; William, 6, b. MO; Melinda, 4,b. MO; Alfred, 3, b. MO; Marshall, 1, b. IL ; This may be the William you are researching as there is the tie to MO and the age is close. Do you know of an Albert CARTER who taught at Hambric School in Union County, IL in 1916? He is the Carter I need information on. Judy

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Wh.2ADE/1148.2.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Judy: Thanks for responding to my query. I don't know which census Albert Ross CARTER appeared on, but I don't think it could have been the 1880 census if he was born in 1867. He would have been only thirteen years of age in 1880 (if he was born in 1867) which would have been a bit young to have been a doctor. I suppose it's possible that Albert Ross CARTER was a brother to William CARTER shown on the 1880 Union, Union County, IL, census who definitely was a medical doctor. I have confirmed that this was the William CARTER who migrated from IL to Ozark County, MO, sometime between 1880 and 1900. Thanks again. If you learn anything about this William CARTER and his family and/or his wife's family, please get in touch with me. Ginny E-Mail: [email protected]
