    3. Hi, I'm new to this list and am researching a family group who migrated from VA > KY and eventually from KY > IL. According to my research, Keziah (Terry) Scott (her first husband was James Scott of Pittsylvania Co. & Halifax Co., VA who died bef. 1770) married Col. Richard Murphy in abt. 1770 in probably Halifax Co., VA. He moved his interests to Rowan Co., NC (Mitchell River area). He was a Loyalist and lost his property during the AWI. They "fled" as a family to Washington Co., KY in 1797-98 as part of a Baptist migration. The child(ren) of Keziah's first husband and her children with Murphy were all part of the migration. John Scott may have been the ONLY child Keziah (Terry) and James Scott had together before his death. John married Chloe Riggs in VA and they moved to KY with the Murphy relatives and his mother. Chloe was d/o Samuel Riggs of NJ (this family was possibly Loyalist as well). John & Chloe had children, the oldest was James Scott (b. 11/1779 in Surrey Co., NC). James Scott married Frances Tucker (VA? or KY?) before 1809 and they had 7 children (2 sons & 5 daughters) of which John Tucker Scott was the oldest (b. 2/1809 in Washington Co., KY). By 1827, James Scott had migrated from KY to IL and built his cabin as the first settler in Groveland Township, Tazewell Co., IL, migrating with his mother, Chloe, and his wife & children. Frances (Tucker) Scott was dead bef. 1850 and James had remarried Jemimah (??) possibly a widow with children. Chloe (Riggs) Scott died at the age of 100 in Tazewell Co., IL. John Tucker Scott married Anne Roelofson (d/o Lawrence Roelofson & Mary Smith) 10/1830 in Tazewell Co., IL in the home of Rev. Neill Johnson (Anne's brother-in-law). They settled in Tazewell and had 12 children (3 died young and before 1852). In 1852, John Tucker & Anne (Roelofson) Scott took the Oregon Trail west with their children. Anne died on the trail near Ft. Laramie WY and their youngest son (Wm. Niell) died in Oregon (in what is now Baker Co.), before they arrived at their destination. (1) When did Frances (Tucker) Scott die? Where is she buried? (2) Who was the 2nd wife of James Scott? Was her first husband named DAVIS? Did she have children by a first marriage? In the 1850 census Jemimah is listed as age 62/69? (hard to read my copy) and b. MA. Also in the household is a Mary L???? Davis, age 14, b. IL, who I'm presuming is a daughter from her 1st marriage ... to (??) Davis? What was Jemimah's maiden name? Ancestry? When did she die? (3) Who were the children of James and Frances (Tucker) Scott? The second son was supposed to have been killed as a young man (don't know if he was married before his death). And there were 5 daughters who must have married and/or died in Tazewell Co.? Was one married to a (??) Caffee? When the family migrated west to Oregon, Levi Caffee (m. Martha L. Roelofson, a sister of Anne Roelofson) migrated on the same wagon train with his family and he is supposed to be a cousin?/?nephew of John Tucker Scott, possibly a child of one of his sisters? Thanks in advance for any help offered. Be well & God bless, Kate Beaugrand Cook Minnesota kbcook@cfaith.com or k.b.cook@worldnet.att.net
