    1. [ILTAZEWE] Missing Illinois Ancestor?
    2. Cheryl Rothwell
    3. I found this listing in the Family History Library Catalog. Note that the publisher is the Illinois State Archives. Perhaps this is what they use when you request information from the state census records. If you are missing an ancestor in Illinois early on this should help you. The microfilm, at least at the Family History Library, is sorted by name. You can request microfilm at your Family History Center. "This material indexes the state and federal censuses of 1810, 1818, 1820, 1825, 1830, 1835, 1840, 1845, 1850, 1855; executive record to 1861; election returns of 1818-1847; House and Senate journals through 1830's; early laws to 1849; and part of the Perrin Collection. Title Name index to early Illinois records Format Manuscript On Film Language English Publication Springfield, Ill. Illinois State Archives 1975 Physical 248 microfilm reels ; 16 mm." To request census information [free by email] from the state archives go to: http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/serv_sta.html#census When I made a request to test it they sent me a copy of the Illinois census page with the ancestor's name so I got several ancestors in one request because they lived in the same area. They do the same on the Civil War roster requests so you end up with all the people in the same part of the alphabet who served in that company. When you are looking at the request form you'll see they also look up death certificates, war records and other items.
