Hello List, Dixie, your post interested me. Not only have I lived in Wash. IL. I still live near enough to ask some questions about your Scottish ancestors.I'll pop over in a day or two to see what I can find out for you. I do know that the library is not bursting at the seams with historical accounts of the area. I do know from researching my husband's Scotch-Irish ancestors that; 1750's they were in Pennsylvania, 1800's they were in Ohio, 1820-30 they'd made it into IN and IL.1850's they'd gone into Iowa, Nebraska, and one or two to Sutters Mill in CA. My guess is, some relatives convinced Maybelle that Iowa was the place to be. Fun Stuff. Denise
