Or, regarding Isaac Merriam, the first pastor of the Tremont Baptist Church, in 1842, I'm wondering if he was closely related to Jonathan Merriam, who came from Vermont under the auspices of the Home Missionary Society and became pastor of the Springfield Baptist church in about 1837.
