Dianne, I can take a picture of the house either Monday or Tuesday next week. I have a digital camera, so you do not have to reimburse me. As I recall, this two story house has older aluminum siding. You can tell it was an older apartment house. It was in nice shape and had been taken care of, also. I do not know about this house being Log Cabin Station, but if you are saying 119 &119 1/2 E Washington St,. East Peoria is the address of this Station, then this is the house. Again, I will email you pictures of this house at this address, Monday or Tuesday of next week. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me. Mike, I would appreciate knowing where Prairie Rest Cemetery is. Tradition says my great grandfather, Konke Nanninga was buried in ____ Prairie or Prairie _____ Cemetery but I've never really found his burial site. Maybe this is the one. I also plan to be in Pekin this summer and Tazwell County Genealogical Society is one of the top spots on my itinerary. I figure about a solid week of looking at your resources should do it. :) Dottie Dorothy Nanninga Sewell dsewell@alaska.net Eagle River, Alaska Ostfriesland Ancestors http://www.alaska.net/~dsewell
Mike & List Thank you very much for the info! Is anyone on the list familiar with 119&1/2 East Washington Street East Peoria IL ? This is the 1942 address of the man my great-grandmother lived with in 1916 which at that time was Log Cabin Station, maybe that will give us a clue as to where Log cabin Station was? Thanks Dianne
Dianne, I use to deliver mail to the address around 1984. It is still there. As I recall, it is a big two story white house across the street from a church. Wendy's restaurant is catty corner from this house also. Or, you can say it is one block down from the Davison-Fulton Funeral Home on Washington St. If you need more information, please feel free to contact me. I was given some directions, but would appreciate another version, since I'm coming from out of state. I will be coming to Delavan via St. Louis > Springfield > or however is the best. My plan is to come to Delavan when I arrive after a 7.5 hour trip. Is it possible to get the Gen Societies address and have them copy and mail any info, if I pay for copy and postage fees, so I'll have it before I leave? That would help organize my trip ahead of time. If so let me know, and you can contact me off-list for the specifics on cost, timing, etc. Thanks for the reply, J. Little bit I could find was: Cooper was a station on the Chicago, Pekin, & Southwestern RR. First settled in 1872. Had a post office from 1878-1904. Discontinued as a settlement on April 30, 1904. Log Cabin Station was a station on the Illinois Traction System (Interurban). HOWARD family [Sarah WARE] Philip Burford WARE family I have heard that the first school in the area until 1854 was in the home of Philip BURFORD. I have been told Anderson WARE and his wife, Cynthia, Sarah WARE HOWARD, and Philip BURFORD WARE are all buried at Delavan's Prairie Rest Cemetery. I am planning to visit the area the end of April, for the first time, and would appreciate any help or info on my search and visit. Thank you so much in advance for any help, advise, or suggestions, J. GROVES-HURT

Hi Dianne ~ Now I'm curious too. I'm researching the families of Lincoln/Correll/ Myers. My grandmother gave her address as Cooper Station on her marriage license in May 1888. Supposing it to be a very small place, would you have a connection to any of the above lines? Lee J.

Hi Denise Thank you so much,Im curious as to the connection to Log Cabin Station being my grgrandmas address and place of death but she died at a hospital ? Maybe it was a little villiage or town? Thanks Dianne
Cooper Station is and was a spot along the train tracks between Morton and Washington. I believe there is a grain elevator there.
