Hi, My 2nd great aunt, Catharine Hargens Dahl came as a bride to Stephenson county in 1865. She died in the early 1870's leaving a husband and three small children. They were living near Freeport. Can anyone tell me what Lutheran churches were there at that time and how I might find where to write for their records? We are trying to get more information on this family, because we are getting ready to print a family history. The Dahls came from Schlichting, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany with his parents and siblings. It is my understanding that they all settled in Stephenson. If anyone can help me, I would be happy.
