I am sorry to hear of the death of Doris Stake. Our condolences to her family and to the Society. Three years ago we were in Stephenson County visiting friends and tracing my dad's family. After spending an afternoon in a fruitless search for my grandparents grave in the Yellow Creek Cemetery near Kent, we went back to Freeport and were told at the library that the History Room was closed but that a volunteer was available on call. Because our time was so short, we asked for the volunteer, and Doris responded. She introduced herself, not as the President of the Society, but as a volunteer. She had dropped whatever it was that she was doing and in a very short time came to the library to help strangers. We soon had the information we needed, and with it we found the gravesite. That part of our trip was a success because of her generosity in sharing time and knowledge. I am sure that others have similar stories about Doris. She will surely be missed. Sincerely, John
