    1. Re: [ILSTEPHE-L] Clarks from PA, IL
    2. Theresa, I am unable to help you directly with the Clark surname. However, looking through the list you supplied, I noted that there are a number of BRUBAKERs and ENGLEs. According to the "History of Stephenson County 1970" on pg. 109, in a section on the Currier School District in Lancaster Twp.: "Between what is still called River Road and Freeport there were the homes of several well-known early settlers. Rudolph K. Brubaker's farm was here, on both sides of Route 75 where Tower Road now meets the highway. The pioneer Jacob Engle bought a farm on the East side of Tower Road in 1851. It is one of the many farms which, although not bought from the government, have all or in part remained in the same family. Jacob's brother Tobias also bought land in this area. His grandson Jamin had a Jersey dairy farm for twenty-three years where a Forreston firm now has a gravel pit." On pg 438, it notes that: "For the past thirteen years, Mrs. Jamin (Leone) Engle has served as executive secretary [of the Red Cross], and at present is also the director of service to military families." The 1998/99 Freeport phone book lists a Gordon Engle at 817-233-1579 Sam Brown Benbrook, TX
