Ruth Gibbs Hart was the Author of five books, tracing the lineage of many different families. Just before her death about 5 weeks ago, I received permission to do reprints of 2 of her books on the Harts and the Gatliffs. James Hart and his Wife Elizabeth Gatliff Hart were among the first settlers in Florence Twp. They owned considerable land in Stephenson Co. and other areas of the State. Five of their Sons were in the Civil War from Florence Twp. Two of the Children married into the Best Family, also well known in the area. In spite of this, very little is know about James and Elizabeth. Only what appears in a Biographical sketch. I am seeking any information on this family, or possible a family contact. There was a Family Bible that may be in the possesion of someone in the area. I apologize for the length of this message.-----Ron
