Hi Listers, I've just traced one of my ancestors, Benjamin Williams, b 1787 in PA, to Rock Grove in the 1830-1840 time frame. I checked the FHL holdings on line for wills and deeds for Stephenson County, but can't find anything. Do land and probate records for Stephenson County exist? Can someone tell me how to go about finding them? Thanks for your help, Jennifer Reno, NV
If you get an answer, I'd appreciate the information, too. ALOHA, I am searching for any CONNECTIONS to Edward Lennox, Bertha Raleigh, Lisie Mayberry, Bert and Bob Rundall, Herman A. Keller all related to the Schimmelpfenning/ig of Sterling Illinois. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Many are buried in the Freeport cemeteries. Thank You
Can anyone tell me the earliest date that birth certificates were issued in Freeport? thanks
I have received a list of immigrants who were from Liechtenstein and immigrated to Freeport from the mid 1800's-1882 . The families are listed below. Along with that list I have dates of birth and place of birth. Much further information is available at their archives. If anyone wants information regarding any of the surnames, please let me know as I am happy to assist you. I know that many of these families stayed in Freeport for a few years and then went on to the western states, but some did remain so I am thinking this may be helpful information to someone. The surnames are as follows: Banzer, Gassner, Lampert, Sele, Beck, Hoch, Eberle, Frommelt, Wille. There are many different branches of the Lampert, Eberle, Beck, and Gassner surnames. Feel free to contact me privately! By the way, Eberle is my family surname I am researching... Sue csds@lsol.net

Hello all, I'm wading my way thru my email boxes and updating the county site. The queries have been updated. Surnames have been added. There is a new family reunion posted. I've removed the date with Y2K problem on the front page. Several new and interesting obituaries I apologize for the lengthy delay. If you've submitted something that hasn't been added, then please re-submit. Julie

The La Crosse, Wisconsin, city library has an online search for the following: 1. Locating records of obituaries written mainly for the city paper for certain years. There is a process available for obtaining copies of the obituaries. There is a cost for copies. 2. Cemeteries in La Crosse County. Volunteers walked the cemeteries and provided the information. (Some information there is not up to date. Catholic cemeteries are not included. There may of course be errors or omissions.) 3. Births, marriages, and divorces going back only as far as 1987. Local genealogy volunteers provided work that made the information available. The library staff in the research room are very helpful. I have found much local information there for my family genealogy work. I live in Chicago about 280 miles from La Crosse, so I am not readily available to get information or copies for requests anyone might have.
