    1. [ILSTEPHE-L] war of the Rebellion
    2. I just heard from another genealogy group that the War of the Rebellion is on-line all 9 vol at Cornell Universities Making of America site. It contains both Union and Confederacy Records. They also have scanned in vol of other historical works both at the Cornell site and the Univ of Michigan site. I put links for them at my genealogy page at: http://www.freeportillinois.com/index3.htm (look under other stuff on the left side of the front page.) Lou

    3. Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I've updated the site over the last 2 days. We've gotten several new queries and some obits also. You'll want to check out the new "Newspapers" link. The look up page has been revamped and we've gained a new look up volunteer! :) I'm also getting ahold of some Stephenson County Civil War Rosters that I'll be adding as time permits. Cheers! 2. Glenn G Reynolds
    3. Continuing to research members of the Reynolds family in Stepehenson Co., particulari;ly in the vicinity of Lena. My Great-grandfather was Levi J. Reynolds, of Kent township, and his wife's name was Mary. I also note that a Jeremiah L. Reynolds also owned property in the Kent township area in the 1860's or 70's. there is a grave, lot #183, in the Lena Cemetary for that person and a daughter, Arabella. Any obituaries would be helpful. Also at one time, I thought there was a GAR marker by the grave of J.L. Reynolds. Can this be confirmed.?? There is also another Mary Reynolds without lot # in the cemetary. b. 1811 and died 1854. Any obituaries or clues? I would also like to know of any Seabury families, or Hill families into which my Great grandfathers sisters, Melvia, and Mary were married. I should welcome any information about this family as well. I have also been in contact with Mrs. Margaret Scholtz of Maple Street, Lena, who is also helping me. Glenn G. Reynolds M.D.

    1. [ILSTEPHE-L] German Bible
    2. John J. Kornfeind
    3. I have recently come into possession of a German/English Bible, that I reason to believe has ties to Carroll and Stephenson Counties. It was published in 1852. It has a notation written in pencil, which states that it is the possession of Jacob Lohr as of 1855. Later in the book is the hand written name of Sadie M. Dieffenderfer or it could be Dieffendorfer. Moisture, mildew, extensive use and age have damaged portions of this book, but the Gothic print is still a very attractive feature of this publication. Does anyone have any thoughts as to who these people were and if they were early settlers to Northern Illinois? jmmkorn@impulsedata.net John J. Kornfeind Glendale, Arizona
