    3. Ancestry.com http://www.ancestry.com has completed indexing and digitizing nearly 24 million World War One Draft Registration Cards (1917-1918). (may have to copy/paste the url) Its great for finding information on 'men between the ages of 18 and 45-males born between 1873 and 1900-who were not already in the military' Apparently Ancestry is allowing free access to this database with registration (your name and email address) from November 12-25, 2005. Since I have a subscription I don't see the Free offer, so I'd appreciate some feedback if the above is NOT true. An alternate way to the site is through Joe Beine's web page, so if the direct link doesn't work, try his link in case there is some sort of special arrangement there http://www.militaryindexes.com/worldwarone Also, the Ancestry Daily News had a great lesson on using this index, how it is arranged in case you want to browse, and good research tips to try if a search gets unsatisfactory results. This is the direct link http://www.ancestry.com/learn/library/article.aspx?article=10657 but if that doesn't work, pare down to the word . . . library/ ; then on the page resulting look to the right, click on Daily News Desk, and subsequently enter 11/14/2005 in the Daily News search box; click on the article. And last, the Belleville Public Library http://www.compu-type.net/rengen/stclair/BPL.htm has WWI Draft Cards for St. Clair County on microfilm, - just in case you don't have an Ancestry subscription, or the free period expires -- all courtesy of the St. Clair County Genealogical Society's Annual $1000.00 budget for library acquisitions for use by the public :) Come to think of it, now is the time to join the SCCGS for 2006 ;-) Get membership to us by the end of the month so you don't miss any newsletters. http://www.compu-type.net/rengen/stclair/stcapp.htm Diane
