A tidbit from the newspaper, Belleville (Illinois) Weekly Advocate, 18 Sep 1891, p. 1 The great fire which occurred at Schifferstadt, Germany, about two weeks ago, and through which many lives were lost, has caused considerable anxiety to a number of residents of this city who came from the illfated city and who still have relatives residing there. They have been anxiously awaiting news from their relatives ever since the date of the fire. Among those residing in this city who came fro Schifferstadt, are Jacob Renner, Sr., Michael Kessler, Frank and Jacob Lill, Michael Isselhardt, Franz Lang, George Kraus, George Landknecht, Mrs. Anna Schuck, Max Klapp, Louis Hamburger, Karl Magin, Franz Meyer and Michael Berkel.
