While doing volunteer data entry at our local library in Ontario, California, I came across this obituary which might be of some interest to someone on this list. This does not relate to any surname that I am researching personally. Nancy Mrs. Gammon Dies In Chino Alvina P. Gammon, widow of Charles B. Gammon and former well-known Ontarian, died early today at the Hawes rest home in Chino, following a long illness at the age of 81 years. A native of O'Fallon, Ill., Mrs. Gammon came to California in 1919 and after five years residence in Long Beach, moved to Ontario, where she resided until 1941, since when she had made her home in Claremont and Chino. Surviving the octogenarian are two daughters, Mrs. William B. Tebbetts, Chino, and Mrs. Charles E. Conn, Webster Groves, Mo.; a brother, Fred J. Postel, Ft. Pierce, Fla.; six grandchildren, Mrs. Thomas Bull and Mrs. Carl Bresnahan, Pomona; Mrs. Edward King, Los Angeles; Mrs. Howard Dyer, St. Louis, Mo.; Charles E. Conn, Jr., Manhattan Beach and Dorothy Lee Conn, Webster Groves, Mo., and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Gammon will be conducted tomorrow 3 p.m. at the Todd Memorial chapel, 570 North Garey avenue, Pomona, with the Rev. Hubert A. Davidson of the Pomona First Baptist church officiating. Entombment will be in Bellevue mausoleum. The Daily Report, Ontario, California May 7, 1948
