I have been told there are microfilms of the St. Augustine Catholic Church records, Hecker, Monroe County. Can someone tell me the date these records begin? I would like to find records for a family that may have lived in Tamarawa (near Hecker) during the late 1830s and early 1840s. I think Tamarawa was partly in Monroe County and partly in St. Clair County. Dan Daniel J. Kortenkamp Stevens Point, WI 54481 http://www.uwsp.edu/psych/dk/danielpg.htm
St. Augustine Catholic Parish at Hecker is part of the Belleville Diocese. All parish registers through 1930 are available at the Belleville Public Library on microfilm. Here is the Finding Aid http://www.compu-type.net/rengen/stclair/cathaid.htm Determine the Roll number, then click the link for that roll at the top of the page. Scroll down to find your parish and read the list of sacramental registers available with dates as they appear on film. This was a project of the St. Clair County Genealogical Society which is now accepting memberships for the coming 2005 membership year :) http://www.compu-type.net/rengen/stclair/stchome.htm (the bottom of the page has society info and application blank).
