Searching for information on ancestors who lived in St. Clair County in the 1860's. I have a document that Adolphus Jager and Cleopha Rotringer were married on April 12, 1864 "by virtue of three weeks instruction in the Roman Catholic Church in Mascoutah." That would probably indicate they were living in that area. Adolphus also went by Adolph and Adolf. I believe his last name was actually Jaeger. Cleophas first name was Mary and I believe the correct spelling of Cleopha was Kleopha. The marriage document lists her last name as Rotringer but I believe it was actually Rotzinger. They both were from the Baden area of Germany but I don't know when they emigrated. Adolf was born in 1836 and Mary on September 21, 1843. They had a daughter Kathrina born February 28, 1865 who died July 9, 1865. They also had a daughter Mary Teresa born August 4, 1866. The first two children were born in Illinois, probably in the Mascoutah area. By September of 1869 they were living in Lebanon, Missouri. Does anyone have any ideas on how I would find out information on their years in St. Clair County. I am also searching for ways to find out when they came to the America and where they lived in Germany so I can trace them back. Any help I receive will be greatly appreciated. Bill Olson
