    3. Hello list, After posting the query below some of you have written me privately and asked my why I believe the middle initial "T" in William T. HIGGINS stands for THOMPSON, so I'm adding this note to my query. The reason I feel that my William T. HIGGINS middle name was THOMPSON is because I believe I found land sale records from Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa courthouse with his name William Thompson HIGGINS. I can't find them now to save my soul. I'm about 95% sure I'm right, but until I can find the documents again I can't say it was for sure. I do remember that the land sales about 1852 & 1854 involved a partnership between my William T. HIGGINS, George Thomas HIGGINS ( Wm. possible brother) and James E. BURKE. James E. BURKE born 1815 Tipperary County, Ireland, died 1887 Keokuk, Iowa) was connected to the HIGGINS through marriage of his sister Bridget BURKE born 1830 Birr (now Parsonstown) Kings County, Ireland died 1905 Keokuk, Iowa who married John FANNING (born abt 1826 in NY). James E. BURKE came to American in 1836 and in Williamsport, VA., he was a Steamboat Captain & married twice, first to Margaret McCUNE born 1823 in Belmont, County, Ohio, died 1871 Ohio, and his second wife, Miss LYNCH according to his obituary. ----- Original Message ----- From: "jgilker" <jgilker@insightbb.com> To: <ILSTCLAI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 5:15 PM Subject: [ILSTCLAI] HIGGINS & their relatives- VA, OH, KY, IA, MO, IL > Surnames: Higgins, Higgians, Recksieck, Drallmeier, Strenger, Thomapson, Gilbreath, Grimshaw, Moore, Hase, Fanning, FitzHenry, Laubersheimer > > I have a William Henry HIGGINS who was born 1850 in Cincinnati, OH. and died 1890 in Belleville, St. Clair Co.
