The boundaries for Ogle Township as outlined at the May 1816 term of the Illinois Territorial County Court, [Illinois State Archives microfilm roll 30-1457, p. 159]:** . . .Beginning on the Bluff on the Madison [County] Line, thence east said Line to Silver Creek[,] thence down Silver Creek to the Mouth of Hays Creek, thence a direct line to Jacob Ogle, Esqr. so as to include Ogle in said Township, thence a direct line to Hendricks so as to include Hendricks in sid [sic] township. . . . I do not have boundaries for subsequent years so do not know how long these boundaries were in effect. It does appear though that these 'township' names gave way to precincts by other names by 1843. Much later [1884] St. Clair adopted the township form of government and the word township is also used as a reference term in the public domain land descriptions... ** The Table of Contents and subject index to these Minutes appeared in the St. Clair Co.
