I am searching for the village of origination of my great grandfather (Frank Geppert/Franz Göppert) who arrived at the Port of New Orleans in December 1851. He sailed aboard the MILAN out of the port of Bremen. His records only say Germany and Prussia. He immigrated to the metropolitan St. Louis area. First settling on a farm in Madison County, and later being a saloon keeper in East St. Louis, St. Clair County. He must have had contact with residents of that area before emigrating. I would like to hear from any one whose ancestors emigrated from Germany to the greater St. Louis area from 1840 to 1855. The purpose is to get their villages. This may help me in my search, as his ships passenger list only says Germany. His naturalization papers only say that he was giving up allegiance to the King of Prussia.
