Eight volunteers are needed to help this coming TUESDAY, 22 Jan 2002 at the Belleville Public Library 9:00 a.m. until noon only. 40 Whiteside School 8th graders will get hands-on experience using a few of the sources available to genealogists. We need --two people who have used and are familiar with microfilm machines (film and fiche loading) --two people familiar with Internet searches, particularly the Statewide Marriage Index and the Family History Library Ancestral File search. --five people to 'staff' one table each assisting these teens as they write letters to IRAD, abstract a will, transcribe an obituary abstract, look up census, and compare census neighbors to those on a landownership map.
