Where would I go to look for a marriage in 1863 in St. Clair Co, IL. The marriage was between Mathias SARLOUIS and Elisabetha FRAUTH on 17 August 1863. Where would such a record of marriage be found? Thanks for any help. Cheryl Jordan Clinton County, Ohio
Hi Cheryl, In the Illinois State Marriage Archive, Mathias Sarlouis is listed as Larlouis. You could either try to get a record from the St. Clair Co. Courthouse or write to IRAD in Carbondale, IL. The date according to the record is 08/17/1863. Joyce in Buffalo Grove, IL
St. Clair county marriages before 1878 should be obtained from IRAD in Carbondale. While the county clerk's office has record books of these marriages, it does *not* have the paper licenses on microfilm and cannot provide a copy. The Belleville Public Library also has the clerk's record books on microfilm.
