Thank you for all of the valuable information sent on this discussion list regarding the trip our ancestors took to the New World....I have learned a great deal. One thing stuck out as I looked at the passenger list (my ancestors included) that all of the male heads of the household's occupation was that of a farmer. (see http://istg.rootsweb.com/v4/1800v4/constantine18470531.html I know that Germany was in a state of constant revolution but what caused all of these farmers to leave at the same time....could the government have confiscated their land, bought them out, etc., or was it just a coincidence?
