    3. There is an interesting book you might want to read. One of the journeys described is from Switzerland to New Orleans and up the river to St. Louis in the mid 1800's. It caught my eye because I am researching my uncle's family who came from Glarus Canton during that period. In fact, it is possible the Paulus GROB mentioned in this book is one of his ancestors. They settled in Bond County and the Greenville areas. It is "America Experienced, Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century Accounts of Swiss Immigrants to the United States". It is printed by Picton Press, Camden Maine. I found it in my local genealogical library. Hardcover: 448 pages Publisher: Picton Press; ISBN: 089725211X; (January 1, 1996) It is available via the internet from Picton Press or Amazon. http://dinsdoc.com/colonial-1.htm is a site containing many digitized documents and books in the public domain. There is something for everyone here and it is all free.
