    3. The obit below is from the Daily Advocate, Belleville, St. Clair county, IL. I have on file a letter from the Belleville News Democrat (which the Advocate became a part of in later years) giving me permission to post any item that would be of help to genealogists. Unless stated to be a different state, all references to cities, villages etc. are in Illinois. I have been reading the Advocate on microfilm through inter library loan for several years, having started with 1850. The name of the paper and the paper date are shown at the end of each article. Transcribed and submitted by Nancy Giles Death Ends Deep Sleep Of Woman After Two Days Mrs. Ruth Slone, 31, resident of the Wies Hotel, East St. Louis, who was in a deep sleep since last Sunday (1 Oct) night after taking some medication, died late yesterday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital, East St. Louis. An inquest in the cause of her death will be held at six o'clock tonight at the Sedlack Brothers funeral home, East St. Louis. Mrs. Slone was taken to the hospital yesterday when her husband, Claude Stone, 36, told authorities that she had been asleep since 11 p.m. Sunday. He said that his wife had complained of a back ache and that just before she went to bed she took two patent medicine tablets described as a cold and pain remedy. Slone said he was unable to wake his wife Monday and when she failed to wake up yesterday he summoned an ambulance to remove her to the hospital.
