Seeking any information on SMITH, Nathaniel, shown in 1850 census of St. Claire Co, Dist. #9 High Prairie, 51 M, Farmer, b. ME. Nathaniel was born 26 Oct. 1799, Bangor, ME, d. 19 Mar. 1877, Red Bud, Randolph Co., IL, m. 22 Aug. 1822, Belleville, St. Clair Co., IL to CARR, Marinda, dau. of CARR, Henry C., Sr. & ARNETT, Mary. HILL, Josiah P.; Margaret, m. ALLEN, James Ralls; Mary Ann; Robert J., m. Susan O. ?; Cordelia, m. ALLEN, James Ralls; Amos T., m. ROBBINS, Albia; Louisa; Charity C.; Alonzo D.; Madison; Paulina H. It appears that Nathaniel and his family moved to Randolph Co. sometime between 1850 & 1860, as he appears in the 1860 census of Randolph Co. in the town of Red Bud, occupation: Justice of the Peace. I have not been able to locate him in the 1870 census. I have found two likely relatives of Nathaniel in the 1850 census of St. Clair Co.: SMITH, Benjamin, Dist. #9 High Prairie, 48 M, Merchant, b. ME and SMITH, James, Dist. #10 Belleville, 56 M, Farmer, b. ME. Would like information on any of these families.
