My name is Sheila Hancock and I am looking for my ggggrandparents. I am having difficulty finding out anything about them. They are William and Elizabeth Ingold Matson. William is from Ohio and Elizabeth is from either North Carolina or Indiana. I find them in St. Clair County, IL, on the 1860 census. They have five children, Rachel, 9; John, 7; David, 6; William, 4; and Angeline, 3; all are born in Illinois. I'm not sure if they were born in St. Clair County or not. I do know that in 1863, they had a sister, Amanda (my gggrandmother). They also had Henry and Elizabeth. I also know that this family lived in Perry County, IL by the 1870 census. The youngest child would have been born around 1866. In 1879 Amanda married William Boyd in Perry county and her father, William Matson, was dead. I have been trying to find where and when he died. I found Elizabeth with the children that were still home in the 1880 census in Perry county. I don't have any death date for her either. Also I cannot find any of the other Matson children in IL after 1880, except Rachel, who married a Bigham from St. Clair County. The name was spelled several ways Matson, Matison, Mattison, Mittison. It seems any variation of that name was used. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I also have a confusion of ages from the census'. On the 1860, they have William at 35 and Elizabeth at 30; on the 1870 census, he is 52 and she is 55. On the 1880 census she is listed as, it looks like, 52. Sheila
