Hello I'm looking for the Belton Family, most are from Sparta, Randolph CO, IL. Although Charles Williams Belton married Nancy Ann McGee daughter of Reuben and Mariah, (Mary/Maria ?) Fleming who I found in St.Clair Co, IL. 1930 census. The children of Charles and Nancy are Howard, Dora, Jane, Ida, Edna, Robert, Rosie, John, Grace, (known as buster) and Tiny. There is said to be three sets of twins. I can fill in all most all the family forward. I know my Mom, daughter of John and Osceola (Gardiner) had a brother who married a twin they had twins and one of the twins had twins. My older brother had twins also. Anyway here's the rub, family lore has it that Charles and his mother (unknown) came from Germany aboard a ship where his Dad and a sibling died in transit leaving Mom and son alone. As the story has the surname was Faust. Some where along the way Momma Faust acquired the name Belton as did Charles. The closest thing to documentation that I have is a copy of a family Bible that has the name Faust once or twice then goes to Belton. Most of these names are written in a old German script known as sutterlien, last taught in school as order by Hitler who ordered it to be re-taught after decades of not being taught, I believe. Faust is to Germans as Smith and Jones are to Americans. I could really use some help on this family.
