While doing volunteer data entry at our local library in Ontario, California, I came across these obituaries which might be of some interest to someone on this list. This does not relate to any surname that I am researching personally. Nancy John Nicholas Frantz, 418 West J street, retired garage owner and operator and an Ontario resident for 45 years, died at San Antonio hospital today, 9:45 a.m., following a brief illness, at the age of 76 years. A native of Illinois, Mr. Frantz came to Ontario in 1904 from Iowa. He was long an active member of Ontario lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Surviving the former businessman are a daughter, Mrs. Frank Maitral; a son, Roy; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of Ontario. Funeral arrangements, in charge of the J. B. Draper company, are incomplete. The Daily Report, Ontario, California December 28, 1949 John Nicolas Frantz, 76, 418 West J street, who died yesterday at San Antonio hospital, succumbed to loss of blood from a wound in the wrist, an investigation by the coroner's office revealed today. Deputy Coroner Joseph von Helf said the cause of death would be officially signed out as unknown but that investigation indicated that the wound was accidentally inflicted with a screw driver. Mr. Frantz, Ontario resident for 45 years, was found unconcious lying on his bed about 8 a.m. yesterday by his son, Roy, apparently having suffered the injury 90 minutes earlier. There was evidence, the deputy coroner said, that the pioneer had made futile efforts to bandage the wound. With the Rev. Robert F. Dennis of Temple Baptist church officiating and the J. B. Draper company in charge, private funeral services for Mr. Frantz will be conducted Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Bellevue mausoleum, where entombment will follow.
