QUERY: LETTER; FROST SURNAMES Searching for info on my maternal grandmother, Louise Frances LETTER, b. 1884, in Belleville, IL, to William F. LETTER and Amalia (Emelia; Emily) FROST, both born in Prussia. Louise Frances LETTER married Ernest Jasper BROOKS about 1911 and moved to Kingsville, TX, where she died in 1930. Louise died when her only child, my mother, Helen Lucille BROOKS, was only 11, and after that they lost contact with Louise's family. There were several other children in Louise's family, but I believe she was closest to her sister EMMA, who married ???? GALLI and moved to California, where she died in Sept., 1967. I was able to find the marriage license of William LETTER and Emelia FROST, and William's occupation is given as Coalminer. However, at the time of his second marriage to Annie Mary KREITNER, he gives his occupation as Policeman. (In Belleville??) The only personal info I have about Louise is that she supposedly went to a convent school, perhaps as a boarder, because she is not listed with her family in the 1900 census.
