To find out if your ancestor/anybody was the recipient of a donation land claim, go to: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/patentSearch/ And type in their name. When the name comes up, see where it says "Printer Friendly"...click on that and print out the description of the DLC. THEN, go to: http://www.esg.montana.edu/gl/index.htm And, type in the Township, Range and Section...and a GREAT description will come up so you can find it...you can even click on the maps that will give you honest to goodness Satellite (sp?) pictures of the land.
