    1. [ILSTCLAI] [ILSTCLAI-L] - PHILLIPS, BRYAN, NALL, REES
    2. Wishing to contact persons researching families of Eliza Rees Bryan, b. 10 March 1780 in PA, m. to Unknown Bryan; d. 10 Aug. 1866 in New Madrid, MO. I would like to contact any of her descendants. (Eliza wrote an account of the 1811-1812 earthquakes.) Eliza and unk Bryan had one child, Frederick Bryan who married Eliza Unknown. When Frederick died, he was buried at Pt. Pleasant, MO, and afterwards his widow lived in Frederickstown, MO. Frederick and his wife had one child, Mary Eliza Bryan, who married first, Richard M. Phillips. (She later married Judge Jas. Houston Howard of New Madrid. There were no children to this union.) Richard M. Phillips and Mary Eliza Bryan had 7 children: Boyd Powell Phillips Frederick Bryan Phillips, b. 09 Mar. 1855, "a prominent lawyer in Belleville, IL in 1893." Elizabeth Reece Phillips, b. circa 1853 (died young) Laura Lee Phillips, m. unknown Nall; b. 1860 Maggie May Phillips, b. 1863 William Evans Phillips, b. circa 1854 (died young) Richard M. Phillips, b. 24 March 1876; m. "Kate" Rodgers of Benton, MO. (This last-named Richard M. Phillips and Kate Rodgers had two daughters, Mary F. Phillips and Laura Phillips, who apparently moved to the state of Oregon.) My interest in St. Clair County would be Frederick Bryan Phillips, the lawyer who lived in Belleville, IL., apparently in 1893. A New Madrid newspaper dated 20 Jan. 1906 states that Richard M. Phillips of New Madrid had received news of 'the death of his brother Fred B. Phillips of Belleville, IL." I am searching for any descendants of this Phillips family or for anyone who is researching same. Thank you for any clues. Mary Sue Anton, New Madrid native
