Thomas Stone and family moved from Claiborne County, Tennessee to American Bottoms, St. Clair County, near Columbia ca 1846, dying there in late 1848/early 1849. Family survivers included William and Reubin Stone, then teen-agers. (In-laws were the Michael and George Felps (Phelps) families of St. Clair County). William married Elizabeth Stallings in 1854, but by 1858 was again single as in that year he married Mary Duvall/Davis. William and Mary's children were Julia, Mary, George, and Pearl.
